Recently WordPress has released its latest version 5.0.1. In this update wordpress team has fixed several security issues.
In an official statement of wordpress they wrote more about compatibility issues;
5.0.1 was just released to fix several security bugs. The Security team tried very hard to mitigate all of the vulnerabilities without any back-compat breaks, but unfortunately there were a few cases where that was not possible.
Security patches are backported to the 3.7 branch, so these BC breaks also apply to versions 4.9.9, 4.8.8, etc.
Well, everyone who is using Visual composer or WPBakery Page Builder plugin and upgraded to WordPress 5.0.1, must have experienced the compatibility problem. Many developers are looking for solutions which can save their time and effort. Because many websites are affected by this upgrade and VC Composr and WP Backery Page builder are not working anymore.
Solution
As you all know in latest wordpress 5.1.0, the Gutenberg Editor (aka Block Editor) has been introduced which has replaced the classic editor.
Classic Editor was compatible with VC composer and WP Backery Page builder before the new release. Because Gutenberg Editor is not compatible with these wordpress plugins.
Following are the option to fix this problem.
Option 1:
If you have latest version of WP Backery Page Builder, then the option to disable Gutenberg editor is available in general settings of WPBakery Page Builder plugin. It will automatically revert it back to the classic editor.
Option 2:
If you don’t have latest version of WPBakery Page Builder plugin or Visual Composer, then simply download “Class Editor” from wordpress.org.
After installing, activate it and you will see Gutenberg editor has been disabled and you are back to the life :). WPBakery Page Builder plugin and Visual Composer both will start working again.
Option 3:
Here is another plugin named “Disable Gutenberg” which is introduced recently to solve this issue without install classic editor.
This plugin “will disable Gutenberg editor and will allow you to use default classic editor again.
Enjoy the tricks and don’t forget to comment below with your experience. I am always here to help you with wordpress issues.
Hi there
Firstly, thank you for your post! However, I’ve an issue I’m hoping you can help me with. I first tried to disable Gutenberg within Visual Composer but couldn’t find it so instead installed Classic Editor (which has worked on another site).
Now when want to edit a page, I can see ‘back end editor’, however, there is no content showing under ‘Visual Composer’. If I click on ‘classic mode’, I can just see a bunch of coding and text so I know the content is there!!
Soooo, I disabled the Classic Mode plugin and installed ‘Disable Gutenberg’ and the same thing is happening.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance.
Sounds good. Both worked for you. Thanks for your input.
Installing Classic Editor worked for me, thanks
It’s my pleasure to know that. Thanks
